The Madu River is a beautiful river teeming with wildlife. Spend a morning exploring the mangrove, riverbanks, and lily clad islands on the search for prehistoric creatures such as to monitor lizards, crocodiles, and the beautiful birds of prey which patrol the area. You may also see the rivers sand digger boats and hand-pulled ferry.

TURTLE HATCHERY

Induruwa Sea Turtle Sanctuary does not only gather the turtle eggs to let them hatch and release the turtles as soon as they are ready to go out to see, but they also take care of wounded and sick species and provide schools and students with turtle-related items for use in classes. All the money received from entrance fees and donations is used entirely to buy the turtle eggs from the locals (who would otherwise eat the eggs) and maintain the infrastructure.

FISH MARKET

Among the many attractions in Beruwala, the fish market is quite an interesting excursion. Beruwala is a town which is known for fishing, and most of the people do fishing as a mode of living. A visit to the fish market will be a different experience for any visitor. If one is lucky enough a visit early morning to the fish port will provide you the opportunity of watching how the fishermen unload their day’s catch.

KANDE VIHARA TEMPLE

Kande Viharaya temple located at Aluthgama is another tourist attraction that you may get astounded of the tourism of Sri Lanka The temple gets the name ‘Kande Vihara’ as it is placed on top of a hill. The temple was constructed in 1734 and has become the most venerated places in Sri Lanka.

BENTOTA GALAPATHA TEMPLE

This ancient Buddhist temple is famous for the tooth relic of the 3rd disciple of Buddha that lies buries in the Stupa. This temple is believed to have been made in the 12th century; it however was destroyed by the Dutch in the 16th century and was subsequently rebuilt giving it a newer look.

BRIEF GARDEN-BENTOTA

Exotic and lush, Brief Garden – Bevis Bawa once belonged to the most renowned landscape architect in Sri Lanka. Located 10 km ( 6.2 mi ) from Bentota, the garden adopts a jungle habitat aesthetic, with thick leaves encroaching on the scattered paths. A vast array of sculptures fill the garden, while many hidden spaces with benches, tables, ponds, and a bathing fountain add charm to this unique attraction.
